Marketing & Sales for Companies with Series A Investment
Limited Capacity seats available

Typically the marketing goal of the company with series A investment is to show that you have a marketing strategy that can scale.  Your resources are still limited, but you’ll need to spend enough to get statistically significant results.

In this section, we will touch upon the fundamental (brand positioning, benefits, motivation), but more time will be spent in how to build a strong marketing campaign that is measurable.   We will discuss how to track and report this data to investors (Key Performance Indicators).

Qualified startups are invited to offer themselves as a case study for the session. Please email gary@vitalintake.org by Friday June 5th to be considered.

SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific, a U.S. Navy Lab is Looking for a Few Good Startups to License Their Technologies
Limited Capacity seats available

SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific (SSC Pacific) is the U.S. Navy's research, development, test, and evaluation laboratory and fleet support center for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR). SSC Pacific's mission is to lead the Navy from concept to capability through research, development, delivery, and support of integrated C4ISR, cyber, and space systems across all warfighting domains.

SSC Pacific's Technology Transfer (T2) Office makes it easy for commercial businesses or startup companies to access and implement SSC Pacific's innovative technologies. T2's mission is to facilitate and enhance the transfer of intellectual property resources and information between SSC Pacific and the business community in a effort to improve the commercial value of inventions and creative work.

The goal of this San Diego Startup Week session is to get the San Diego entrepreneurial community aware that all this research and innovation is happening at SSC Pacific and that the technologies are available for commercialization through licensing and T2.

SSC Pacific has had their first big startup success here in San Diego, the spin-off company formed in 2006, licensed technologies from the lab, and was acquired by a Fortune 500 company in November 2014 for $85M. Another ongoing project is the Furnace Technology Accelerator, with hopes to have seven new startup companies formed at the conclusion of the acceleration in December 2015 (San Diego Daily Transcript, April 29, 2015 http://www.sddt.com/news/article.cfm?SourceCode=20150429czd&_t=Seven+teams+kickstart+Furnace+Accelerator+program#.VWdUYEVlBxc).

Cross-Platform Mobile App Development with Xamarin
Limited Capacity seats available

The mobile application market continues to expand and evolve at a rapid pace. Today’s users expect great native experiences on whatever platform they use. Apps delivered on only one platform rarely find success, but developing three separate native apps can be costly when each platform has its own programming language and tools. It doesn’t have to be this way. The alternative is Xamarin cross-platform development.

With Xamarin, developers write C# code that runs on the three main platforms. It provides feature-rich APIs that allow a large amount of code to be shared across iOS, Android, and Windows. Here at Seamgen we’ve found we get about 60-80% code re-use.

If you’re interested in learning about Xamarin and how you can leverage the technology for cross-platform mobile app development, this session is for you. Seamgen’s Sr. Software Engineer, Michael Henke, will introduce you to the Xamarin platform and tools. We will also discuss tips and strategies to get you started with cross-platform Xamarin development.
